They are creeping around many corners in cyberspace − nefariously cloaked tricksters (bad actors, black hats, activists, script kiddies – pick one) who may be out for more than just pulling minor pranks. Just as parents rifle through their kids trick-or-treating haul to search for something dangerous or corrupt, so should cyber users be wary.
ɬÀ﷬’s Department of Intelligence and Security Studies, one of the fastest-growing programs on campus, is launching a new, virtual lecture series to cover a wide range of topics related to national security.
So much of our daily lives rely on technology. Almost everything we do is surrounded by tech both personally, at work and globally. Personal property like your smartphone, your vehicle, Google Home or Alexa and even the thermostat on your wall, are susceptible to an information breach of your private life. These threats are real and can cause a huge disruption. Think about how much technology you rely on and how much of your personal information is stored across all your devices. Cybersecurity can often be taken for granted.
Citadel student teams are preparing for competitions in cyber defense and ethics. On Feb. 24, ɬÀï·¬ Cyber Defense Team will participate in the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Contest. The team will compete from ɬÀï·¬ campus, joining more than two dozen other college teams in cyberspace for the contest hosted from 1 – 4 p.m. (EDT) by the Kennesaw State University, which is located in Georgia.
